Linux NIS Server: ypserv

The current version of the ypserv is: 2.19

The ypserv package contains the daemons ypserv, rpc.yppasswdd, rpc.ypxfrd and the programs yppush, ypxfr, makedbm, revnetgroup and ypinit. Read the ypserv NEWS and ChangeLog file for more information.

Version 2.x is a complete rewrite of ypserv 1.x. It doesn't fork any longer to transfer a whole map, which makes it faster, more reliable and less resources are needed. tcp_wrapper support was removed and a lot of small bugs fixed.

Version 2.19 fixes crashes of ypxfr and ypserv.

Version 2.17 and 2.18 fixes two minor security problems: The ypserv domain functions don't ignore any longer the securenets file and possible buffer overflows with the -x and -E options of rpc.yppasswdd were fixed.

Version 2.16 is a bug fix/code cleanup release.

I take over the yppasswd 0.9 sources from Olaf Kirch and put rpc.yppasswdd into the ypserv package. There will be no standalone rpc.yppasswdd package anymore.

ypserv 2.19 is only tested on Linux with glibc 2.x.

• ypmaplist needs to be fixed for Sun's NDBM.
• If we create a shadow.byname map, create a passwd.adjunct map, too.
